Behavioral Health

A monitored location is one step up and has a house manager present who sets rules and procedures and holds individuals accountable. These can be slightly larger and are sometimes in apartment complexes. However, most halfway homes have the goal of supporting you to recovery through a structured environment.

Stepping Stones housing is based on the Oxford model operating on the concept of group accountability, democratically run by residents. Stepping Stones is not a treatment center nor a traditional halfway house. Rather it is a place where addicts help other addicts and support them in their recovery. If you are in drug rehab right now or entering it through FHE Health, your goal should be to focus on your current needs.

  1. We offer case management and outpatient services through local providers such as Wellstone and grant programs to ensure long-term recovery.
  2. If you are able to be a part of a recovery residence, it will be important to understand what type of environment is present.
  3. Those who enter these environments have less exposure to triggers — something that causes a person to think about or use drugs and alcohol again.
  4. Additionally, for those residents on Medication Assisted Treatment, Stepping Stones offers housing and recovery support services in an ethical and controlled setting.

Finding Your Initial Care at FHE Health

These locations do not provide specific addiction treatment, so you should continue to see your outpatient counselors for this. The programs within them also differ from one location to the next. Most often, a sober home will help you by providing on-site or nearby 12-step programs. They also help you to develop life skills to help you cope with stressors around you. A less-than-desirable environment exposes someone in recovery to the potential triggers that can lead to relapse.

OUR HOMES

Furthermore, Stepping Stones connects residents with resources proven to sustain long-term abstinence, often referred to as recovery capital. This includes job placement, transportation, food support, access to mental health care, and social support with like-minded friends. If someone is unable to work initially, due to a lack of experience, there may be some help in building skills to do so.

They offer a higher level of focus on social support, giving you someone to talk to and help you. They also provide the same types of services most sober homes do, such as helping you to make it to 12-step meetings and teaching you life skills. A sober home or sober living home is a type of location you can live for a period of time after completing rehab.

Additionally, there are two recovery-oriented meetings including a 12-Step group and a literature Vanderburgh House study. These recovery meetings are open to all same-sex houses and residents are encouraged to invite their sponsors. This is also a forum where alumni often visit and give their stories or offer to sponsor a newcomer.
